Fresh off winning his first career NBA championship, the Lakers power forward is planning to opt-out of his $28.7M player option and re-sign with LA.

The Lakers traded for AD last season after he requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans.

LA traded away Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and the No. 4 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft to bring in Davis.

Mortgaging their future for only one year of Davis was a thought in the back of many Lakers’ minds this year. Things seemed to have worked out entirely, though.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, rumors around Davis signing with the Chicago Bulls floated around the league for the majority of the year.

Davis, still only 27 years of age, averaged 26.1 points per game, just under ten rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game in the truncated 2020 season. He will look for a second ring next season as he teams up with LeBron James in the quest for back-to-back titles.
