The UEFA Champions League is back at last. Barcelona vs. PSG led headlines as a rematch of Barca’s thrilling 2017 4-0 comeback against the French side. The teams’ recent matchup, however, resulted in a thumping 4-1 PSG win.
Despite Neymar’s absence due to injury, golden boy Kylian Mbappe led the way as the French side dismantled the seemingly non-existent Barcelona defense. Mbappe posted a hattrick and led the team despite an early Lionel Messi penalty that put Barcelona in the lead.
Striker Moise Kean added another for PSG as they put 4 past the keeper at the Camp Nou.
Inconsistency in defense has been an evident problem for the Catalonians throughout this season. Mistakes proved fatal as Mbappe was essentially gifted 2 of his 3 goals.
Mbappe’s last goal stunned fans everywhere as he sent a curler past keeper Marc-Andr ter Stegen.
Bar a potential miracle like 2017’s “La Remontada,” Barcelona are in grave danger of exiting the Champions League in the round of 16 for the first time in 14 years. Already down 4-1, Barca will look to aid Messi in their search for goals in the second leg scheduled for March 10th in Paris.
