Elon Musk is revising the idea of charging all Twitter/X users.
During a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Musk floated the concept. Greg Brockman, the president and co-founder of OpenAI, and physicist Max Tegmark participated in a round table discussion with the two.
They had a conversation about the state of technology and problems with artificial intelligence. Musk did, however, make a brief revelation regarding the direction he sees Twitter/X taking in the future.
Musk claimed that the only way to get rid of bots from the site is to implement a payment system. He stated that it would be priced lower than the premium, which is currently $8 per month. Since taking over Twitter/X, Musk has made it a top priority to delete accounts that are controlled by spammers.
He stated that one of his major goals for the social media network would be to eliminate bots when he first declared his bid to buy it.
“I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

It’s unknown whether Musk will be able to obtain approval for the payment mechanism to be implemented. However, if they have to pay for it, it might be a disastrous moment for the platform and turn away a lot of people.
