HBO has confirmed that the famous actor Pedro Pascal has not finished filming. This response arose due to the influx of rumors circulating on social media. The company quickly shared that the rumors were inaccurate, reassuring the fans.

This article will contain spoilers from Last of Us II.

Origin of the Rumor

The rumor quickly became viral as it came from a reliable source: Danial Richtman. He shared this information on his official Patreon page. The post revealed that Pascal had finished his work on the set, and thus, he was officially done with filming.

Showrunner Craig Mazin previously reported that the crew only started filming on February 12, 2024. This meant that Pascal only took a month and a half to film his scenes, and he was done. The strike also caused filming delays, making this rumor a shock to everyone.

Thankfully, HBO confirmed that this isn’t the case. Pascal has more work to do for the show.

Reactions from the fans

Major spoilers ahead.

This rumor became viral for one reason: fans were laughing and grieving as the news confirmed their greatest fear, Joel’s death in Last of Us Season 2.

People who played the original game know that Joel met his demise at the beginning of Last of Us II. Despite the game’s release four years ago, fans of the franchise are still debating about it to this day. It definitely became a plaguing controversy.

Thus, with Richtman’s post, people are going over X/Twitter and posting jokes about the matter:

HBO’s version of The Last of Us was similar to the original game. They are planning to give the same treatment for the second season as well, albeit they will give specific elements some radical changes.

These rumors, sadly, still don’t confirm if Joel will escape his untimely death.
