2021 was supposed to be a big year for music. Drake's "Certified Lover Boy" was supposed to drop in January. Travis Scott's "Utopia" is supposed to drop in the summer. Playboi Carti announced a deluxe version of "Whole Lotta Red," which has yet to drop.

Let's take a look at all the big-name rap albums that we're supposed to be getting this year.

Drake - "Certified Lover Boy"

Last November, Drake posted a trailer to his heavily anticipated album "Certified Lover Boy." In the video, he announced it would be releasing in January. Come January; he posted on his Instagram story announcing that the album has been delayed due to his knee injury, much to the dismay of fans. Now, close to August, the Toronto-born rapper has still not dropped the album.

There was very little news on the album for months, but lately, DJ Akademiks has reported that Drake has played the entirety of the album to "music elites" and has received very high praise.

In an interview last month, Drake also said that CLB would be out before "the end of summer." The official, last day of summer is September 22nd.

Travis Scott - "Utopia"

Travis Scott's last solo album that he dropped was all the way back in 2018. August 3rd, 2018, to be exact. This was his massively successful "Astroworld." The Houston native also dropped "JACKBOYS" towards the end of 2019, but this was a collaborative project with his Cactus Jack record label.

Since then, the 29-year-old has been teasing his new project, "Utopia." Aside from an Instagram post here and there of him in the studio, there's very little information on when this album could be released. Thanks to an informative thread on Twitter, though, one Travis Scott fan thinks they figured out the release date.

In the tweet, the fan explains how Travis Scott usually drops an album when he's releasing some merchandise as well. The example they used was "Astroworld," releasing at the same time as the "Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4's". If this trend continues, "Utopia" could very well be releasing August 13th -- the same date the "Travis Scott Jordan 1 Low's" are dropping.

Here's to hoping this fan's theory is true. We are well overdue for some new Travis Scott.

Don Toliver - "L.O.A.D"

Don Toliver, Travis Scott's fellow Cactus Jack signee, is also set to drop an album this year. In a tweet posted late last month, Don Toliver confirmed his new album would be dropping in July.

After his 2020 album "Heaven or Hell" was a big success, Don Toliver followed this up in the summer by teaming up with NAV, Gunna, and Internet Money for the smash hit "Lemonade."

With no word on the album dropping this Friday, "Life of a Don" is expected to drop next Friday, July 30th. This is if the Houston native sticks to his word of a July release date.

Lil Tecca - "We Love You Tecca 2"

After Lil Tecca's debut album "We Love You Tecca" was a huge success in the summer of 2019, why not make a No. 2?

Lil Tecca has been teasing this album for a long time now, and we finally got the release date earlier today.

It looks like "We Love You Tecca 2" will be dropping on August 6th.

As of now, the only confirmed features on this album include NAV and Gunna.

Lil Uzi Vert - TBA

After not dropping an album in 2018 or 2019, Lil Uzi Vert had a massive 2020.

Before starting the COVID-19 Pandemic last year, Lil Uzi Vert dropped his highly anticipated "Eternal Atake" on March 6, 2020. The Philly rapper dropped the deluxe version; "Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World 2".

Then, in late 2020, Lil Uzi teamed up with Future to drop their collaborative project, "Pluto x Baby Pluto."

Since then, Lil Uzi Vert has occasionally been teasing his next project. Just a few days ago, he tweeted the words "Pink Tape." This could very well be what his next project will be titled.

Although he hasn't officially announced what it is going to be called, he has claimed that it will be "legendary."

Playboi Carti - "Whole Lotta Red (Deluxe)"

After Playboi Carti's massively anticipated "Whole Lotta Red" dropped on Christmas Day last year, fans have been eager for the deluxe version ever since.

Only two days after the release of Whole Lotta Red, Carti himself announced on Twitter that there would indeed be a deluxe version on the way.

It's been almost eight months since this tweet above, and there hasn't been much news on a potential deluxe since.

Playboi Carti has always been pretty quiet on the Social Media aspect, so it wouldn't be surprising if any news on this album stays slim.

Kanye West - "DONDA"

Last but certainly not least is Kanye West's "Donda." This album is supposed to drop tonight at midnight.

Kanye West announced his album "Donda" on Twitter almost one year ago exactly. It looks like he was ahead of his time.

Earlier this week, there were rumblings on Social Media that Kanye West was holding a listening party for his new album. Shortly after, the rapper posted a video to his Instagram page where he confirmed "Donda" would be dropping this Friday.

Rumored features on the project include Future, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Don Toliver.
