Average Length of a Season

Each chapter had a different duration since there wasn’t a concrete release schedule. For example, Chapter 2 ran the longest, averaging 97 days per season. The next one would be Chapter 3, which ran for an average of 90.5 days.

After those two, the chapters had a shorter runtime, with Chapter 4 averaging 83.5 days. Finally, the first season had the shortest seasons overall, having an average of 72 days.

It’s important to note that Chapter 5 – Season 1 will run for more than 95 days. This is already longer than most of Chapter 1’s seasons. If the current chapter continues to run this way, then perhaps Chapter 5 will be one of the longer ones.

Longest Fortnite Season

Chapter 2 – Season 1 is the longest Fortnite season in memory. It ran for 128 days, which is almost four months. Since then, nothing has come close to its long duration.

Meanwhile, the second longest season would be the following one, Chapter 2 – Season 2, which was online for 119 days.

Shortest Fortnite Season

Occasionally, players would answer that the shortest Fortnite season would be Chapter 4’s final season, Season 5 (OG), and they would be correct. In summary, the season started on November 3 and ended on December 2, making it a month-long season.

It’s important to note that all (except one) Fortnite seasons have been longer than two months, making the OG season a special case and the shortest season in Fortnite history.

The counterpoint to that argument would be that Chapter 4 – Season 5 (OG) is an epilogue rather than a season in itself because of its use of the OG map. If audiences are going to follow that logic, then Chapter 1 – Season 1 would be the shortest Fortnite season as it only ran for 49 days.

Biggest Changes of Fortnite’s Chapter 5

As of now, the current Fortnite season is Chapter 5 – Season 1, starting from December 2023 till March 8, 2024. It was certainly one of the most anticipated chapters, as Fortnite went all out in celebrating a new page in the game’s story by bringing a lot of new mechanics.

Map Changing

The latest Chapter brought a new map to the game straight away. It features 11 POIs on a humongous island that has grassy and icy biomes. Furthermore, Fortnite even gave it a quirky addition in the form of a train that goes around the entire map in an unlimited loop. The train will also pass all Reckless Railways stations, some Fencing Fields, and Ritzy Riviera.

New Bosses

Fortnite gave five new bosses to fans in the current Chapter 5 – Season 1.

  • Oscar
  • Nisha
  • Montague
  • Valeria
  • Peter Griffin

All of them would reward the players with Society Medallions once they are defeated. These medallions would boost players with buffs or keys that would unlock vaults containing crucial and strong loot.

Furthermore, each of these bosses has a unique skin, which players can buy through the game’s battle pass

New Weapons

It wouldn’t be a new season without a bunch of new weapons to surprise the players. Audiences can view the list of the new weapons below:

  • Grapple Blade
  • Cluster Clinger
  • Ballistic Shield
  • Hammer Pump Shotgun
  • Frenzy Auto Shotgun
  • Nemesis Assault Rifle
  • Striker Assault Rifle
  • Thunder Burst SMG
  • Hyper SMG
  • Reaper Sniper Rifle
  • Ranger Pistol

As for their abilities, the Grapple Blade allows players to swing around the map. Once the blade hits another player, it would deal melee damage.

Meanwhile, the Ballistic Shield would protect players from dangerous bullets while allowing them to shoot with a pistol.

Lastly, the Cluster Clinger is a deadly explosive weapon that would stick on the first person hit before exploding.

And that is everything players need to know about the question, “How long is a Fortnite season?” There will surely be a lot of new content and game modes come next season—and we’ll be there to cover it!
