Sergio Perez’s dreams at Mexico GP troubled by team orders

Sergio Perez has an opportunity to fulfill his dreams and win the 2021 Mexico GP. The Mexican driver could win his home GP in a competitive Red Bull car. However, Perez understands that team orders might come to play amid championship battles.

Surely, Perez will try and win his home race. However, Max Verstappen is in a narrow title fight with Lewis Hamilton, and he could require Perez’s assistance. Perez, as always, will be ready to help and prioritize his team over his ambitions in the race.

“It’s complicated. We should see what circumstances we have in the race. At the end of the day, we are drivers working as a team and the main focus is on the team. It’s the big picture. We will have to look at the circumstances.”

Perez thinks there’s “a very real chance” he wins in Mexico

Since 2015, Perez’s best result in Mexico has been seventh place in 2017 and 2019. On the other hand, until this season, Perez has never driven a car capable of winning any race. Perez is a famous person in Mexico, and his potential win there would be memorable.

“I think we are in a good rhythm to fight for the podium in the last races. We are fighting for a lot in these last races, and every point will be important. I would be proud to be able to achieve one of my dreams since my childhood.”
