Amazon just confirmed a Tomb Raider live-action series. This is in the aftermath of the company’s adaptation of Bethesda’s Fallout. The post-apocalyptic show’s success seems to have strengthened Amazon’s resolve for other video game adaptations.

Tomb Raider Live Action Show Details

Fallout’s success with the general public and fanbase has spurred Amazon to confirm more live-action creations. The first of which is their live-action take on the Tomb Raider franchise. They recently released information on the series, but they’re still keeping the lid on tight with the project.

Writer and producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge will spearhead the show. Internet users know her for her work on Fleabag as its creator, head writer, and actress. She also wrote and executive produced Killing Eve.

Meanwhile, she also shows off her acting chops with her roles in Ryan Reynolds’ IF, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Suffice it to say that if they approach this project like they did with Fallout, then the IP is in good hands. If they continue to do their due diligence while collaborating with Crystal Dynamics, the show will have nothing to worry about.

Even the vice president of Amazon Games is excited about the Tomb Raider live-action movie. He states that the great IP has countless possibilities for fiction.

“With great IP, the possibilities are endless. The richness and depth of the fiction allows the Tomb Raider series from Prime Video and the video game from Amazon Games to tell separate stories about Lara Croft’s adventures.”

Tomb Raider Resurfaces

It’s been a while since gamers explored ruins as Lara Croft. The last released Tomb Raider game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, was in 2018. This announcement from Amazon also confirms the creation of an unnamed Tomb Raider project. However, little to no information is provided on what it will be about.

However, it’s a great way to expand Croft’s adventures, as Hartmann claims her adventures will be expanded with the live-action series and game.

Ultimately, two new entries in the ruin-delving and treasure-seeking franchise will be a welcome sight for many fans.

Will you be watching the series when it drops?
