The CBS family TV show Young Sheldon will close its curtains as soon as Season 7 ends.
Fans have been waiting for Young Sheldon’s next season. Thankfully, they’ve gotten dates from its creators. Season 7 will return on Feb. 15, 2024, with a one-hour series finale set one month after, on May 16, 2024. Thus, after seven years of airing, fans must prepare to say goodbye to the characters.
Unfortunately, the final season will have fewer episodes than the previous ones, mainly due to SAG-AFTRA strikes. They stopped multiple Hollywood productions for around six months, and even the crew behind Young Sheldon wasn’t safe.
The President of CBS Entertainment expresses his delight and heartfelt goodbye to the cast and characters.
“We extend a sincere thank you to executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Steve Holland and the entire writing and producing teams for six wonderful seasons. We look forward to seeing their final season unfold and giving it a proper send off with the best episodes yet for their fans to enjoy.”Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment.
Producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro, and Chuck Lorre also expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to expand Sheldon Cooper’s origin.
“We are grateful to our fans for embracing this chapter of the Coopers these past six seasons, and on behalf of the entire ‘Young Sheldon’ family, we’re excited to share this final season with you.”Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre on the end of Young Sheldon
Season 7 is a fitting Finale for Sheldon’s Origin
There are many reasons why Season 7 marks the end of the young Cooper’s era. For one, the actor and actress behind Sheldon and Missy are getting older. When Young Sheldon started back in Sept. 2017, the twins were nine years old, which thankfully matched Iain Armitage (Sheldon) and Raegan Revord’s (Missy) age in real life.
Fans have speculated that Young Sheldon can only run until the character is 14 years old, as that is when he’ll start his post-graduate studies in California. Knowing this, the crew had already stalled as much as possible until the actors turned 14.
Unfortunately, time waits for no one. Armitage and Revord are turning 15 this year, with fans criticizing the noticeable age difference in the show.
Furthermore, the TV series is reaching the end of its three-year renewal. They received this rare opportunity when the show was a hit in its early seasons. Now that 2024 is coming, the crew must negotiate and go through brand-new contracts.
A lot of the fans, despite their criticism, are sad to see the Coopers go. It was hard saying goodbye to the cast of Big Bang Theory, and the same can be said for Young Sheldon. Fans can only now hope the finale will be a poetic and proper conclusion for this beloved story.
