Destinations for Davante Adams if Rodgers Leaves

It should be no debate that Davante Adams is one of the best receivers in the league, if not the best. A lot is going on with the Green Bay Packers, and it’s looking like Aaron Rodgers might not be with the team much longer. Adams’ contract expires after this season, so there’s a chance he may be on his way out as well. Let’s take a look at some destinations for Davante Adams if Rodgers leaves Green Bay.

Adams has been Rodgers’ favorite target over the last several seasons. He’s an excellent route runner, he’s physical after the catch, and the Packers do an excellent job getting him the ball.

Many teams would call Green Bay if Adams became available for trade, and a lot of teams would clear cap space to try and sign this guy. Who wouldn’t want to add a four-time prow bowler to their wide receiver room?

So let’s just say that Rodgers leaves the Packers, and the Packers decide to enter a rebuild. Here are some possible destinations for Davante Adams if he tests free agency in 2022.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders will always need to get better on offense because they play in a division with so much offensive talent. We know about how good the Chiefs are, the Chargers have an electric offense with Justin Herbert, and the Broncos have one of the best receiver groups in the entire NFL.

Davante Adams makes sense for Las Vegas. He and Derek Carr were college teammates and broke records at Fresno State before entering the league in 2014. Those two already have the connection and trust that is necessary between a quarterback and his receiver. Both Adams and Carr still work out together in the offseason, so that chemistry is still there.

The Raiders have an efficient offense built around speed, running the football, and utilizing the tight ends. If they sign Adams in 2022, this offense will go from efficient to absolutely elite. This is a realistic destination for Davante Adams.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens will be linked to every big-name receiver until they finally acquire one or one of their draft picks develop. The Ravens have a lot of speed and have an offense built to run the football. However, they lack that actual number one receiver that Lamar Jackson can go to when the offense needs to move through the air.

Baltimore uses the run to set up the passing game, which works to establish an early lead. If the running game isn’t working or the team falls behind early in the game, that’s when the passing attack isn’t as effective.

Davante Adams could make that offense less one-dimensional and be that receiver Jackson can look to at any given moment. Adams would open up the entire offense, and the other receivers and tight ends would get single coverage.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts are an exciting team that could genuinely be one piece away from being in serious Super Bowl contention. The defense is solid, the offensive line is one of the best in the league, and they have three starting-caliber running backs they like to rotate in and out.

However, the receiver position is one of the more prominent question marks. Michael Pittman Jr. and Parris Campbell are solid options to build around, but consistency and durability are a question mark with those two and the entire receiving group in general.

Indianapolis brought back T.Y Hilton on a one-year deal, and it’s looking like this could be his last go-around with the team. It makes sense for them to take a look at Adams if he decides to test free agency. He would create an interesting trio with Pittman and Campbell, and they could be one of the more efficient offenses in the league if they can all find ways to stay healthy for an entire season.

San Francisco 49ers

This would be a homecoming for Davante Adams. He was born in Redwood City, California, and attended Palo Alto High School. Adams would create a nice trio with Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel at the receiver position. Once San Francisco solves its quarterback situation, this offense has the chance to put up some serious numbers.

The 49ers had a season filled with injuries in 2020, just months after making a Super Bowl run in 2019. If San Francisco can stay healthy in 2021, the team should be right back in the playoff mix.

This is one of the ideal destinations for Davante Adams. He could play in front of family and be the missing piece on offense for the 49ers. If he decides to leave Green Bay in 2022, he would make the life of whatever quarterback is starting for San Francisco a whole lot easier.

Denver Broncos

Denver already has a pretty good receiver unit. The reason the Broncos are here is that they are most likely to trade for Aaron Rodgers. That could be a real deciding factor in Adams’ decision if he decides to test the market in 2022.

The connection he and Rodgers have is one of the best we have ever seen. It would make total sense for Adams to follow Rodgers and finish what they started in Green Bay.

That would also be one of the scariest receiving trios in the league. You could make a case for Adams, Cortland Sutton, and Jerry Jeudy being the best trio in the NFL; and they’d all be catching passes from one of the best quarterbacks of all time.
