Marvel Rivals makes its debut thanks to NetEase Game’s release of the trailer on March 29, 2024.

The trailer now has over 1.7 million views.

According to the company, this new Marvel title will be a free team-based third-person shooter. Marvel fans can finally assemble their very own squad made up of either six superheroes or villains. Their team will face off against other teams across familiar maps from the Marvel universe (e.g., Asgard, 2099’s Tokyo).

Additionally, 18 Marvel superheroes and villains will be available at launch. They are the following:

  • Black Panther
  • Doctor Strange
  • Groot
  • Hulk
  • Iron Man
  • Loki
  • Luna Snow
  • Magik
  • Magneto
  • Mantis
  • Namor
  • Peni Parker
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Spider-Man
  • Storm
  • Star-Lord
  • The Punisher

For those who can’t find their favorite hero or villain on the current roster, NetEase has assured fans that more will be added over time. They are also the company behind The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War, Dead by Daylight Mobile, and EVE: Echoes.

Marvel Rivals will be available on PCs by May 2024. Fans can experience the intense game firsthand by signing up for their Alpha test.

Story of Marvel Rivals

Heroes and villains will meet in this particular game due to universes colliding. The culprits for this phenomenon are Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from 2099. Players must eradicate other teams to ensure that both Dooms will never solely dominate their current realities and universe.

Jay Ong, the head of Marvel Games, expressed his excitement on the matter. “Marvel Ricals is one of our most ambitious game development projects.” Ong even mentioned that their creative teams have effectively collaborated with one another in addition to their own love and passion.

Ong and Marvel Ganes also hope that this game will be the “ultimate superhero team-based PVP shooter.” Time will only tell if this hope will turn into reality. In the end, all we know for now is that there are fans who think that Overwatch 2 and Blizzard should be worried if Marvel Rivals becomes a success.
