JJ Watt found himself a new home in the NFL. The long-time Texans pass rusher recently signed with the Arizona Cardinals to mark his first move in his career.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year reportedly agreed to a 2-year contract valued at $31 million with $23 million guaranteed.

He himself revealed the move via Twitter, where the details of the deal came out shortly after.

News of Arizona’s newest addition comes just a month after he and the Texans mutually agreed to part ways. At the time, Watt still had a year left on a 6-year contract with Houston.

Speculation surrounding Watt’s next destination fueled rumors, but Arizona was a wholly unexpected destination. He joins another former Texans star in receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Moving to Arizona puts Watt in the NFC West with fellow 3-time DPOY Aaron Donald on the Rams.

Last year the Cardinals narrowly missed out on the playoffs in a Week 17 loss to the Rams. Adding Watt to the defense is a sign that the Cardinals have bigger ambitions for next season as they hope to rebound from the disappointment of the 2020 season.
