In yesterday’s game, Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac had to be wheeled off the court after suffering a torn ACL. The Magic proceeded to beat the Kings 132-116.

The play occurred early in the fourth quarter and saw Isaac attempt to split two defenders by way of a jump-stop. His knee subsequently buckled, causing the 22-year old to collapse in noticeable pain. He lay on the ground while grabbing his knee for several minutes as medical officials arrived. Isaac would have to be taken off the floor in a wheelchair.

The Magic forward suffered a previous knee injury on New Year’s day against the Washington Wizards. Upon an unstable landing, Isaac exited the court on a stretcher. He had a posterior lateral corner injury and a medial bone contusion and anticipated to miss the remainder of the season. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the NBA restart consequently taking place during the summer, he was able to return. Unfortunately, Isaac will now be out for the rest of this season.

Isaac’s teammate, Aaron Gordon, lamented the gruesome play and the emotional toll it took on him and the team.

It was sad, man. My whole heart goes out to him. I know everybody’s heart on our team goes out to him,” Aaron Gordon said after the game, via Fox Sports Magic. “I just know he’s such a great guy. He’s such a great person. And how hard he worked to get back on the court, I hope it’s nothing serious. I hope it’s something that kind of shocked him. It was sad, man. It brought tears to my eye.”

The former Florida star has emerged as one of the league’s bright young players. This season he averaged 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 2.3 blocks.
