Mike Clevinger says he is feeling “great” after throwing on flat ground today. It is likely the right-hander will be healthy and available to pitch for the Padres in the NLDS, should San Diego eliminate the Cardinals tonight.

On September 24th, approximately a week before the playoffs, Clevinger was diagnosed with a right elbow strain. He was left off the clubs’ Wild Card roster, along with fellow starter Dinelson Lamet.

Clevinger was acquired from the Indians just before the deadline in a nine-player blockbuster deal.

San Diego went out and got the righty specifically for the playoffs. If the Padres advance, they would be facing the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS.

After losing Game 1 of this series, San Diego beat the Cardinals 11-9 yesterday in a comeback win thanks to back-to-back shots from Tatis and Machado in the sixth inning.

The Padres and Cards play a do or die Game 3 tonight at 7:08 PM ET.
