After another terrific outing last night, Dinelson Lamet made history for the San Diego Padres.
Dinelson Lamet became the first Padres pitcher in history to strike out eleven batters to go along with zero walks multiple times in a single season.
Furthermore, Lamet has been a pleasant surprise for the playoff-hopeful San Diego Padres squad this season.
Lamet, 28, wasn’t even a guarantee to make the starting rotation coming into the season. With less than twenty games remaining in this year’s shortened season, Lamet has been one of San Diego’s better pitchers.
Currently occupying the second-place spot in the NL West, San Diego is likely to make the postseason. Large thanks to their starting pitching and Tatis Jr’s MVP caliber season.
However, Lamet’s velocity and ability to strike out batters were never in question. Padres management was concerned about the number of batters the right-hander would walk.
Finally, after making history last night, the concern regarding his control should be over.
