The Blazers trade for Norman Powell in a deal that sends Gary Trent Jr. and Rodney Hood to Toronto.

Powell is an established veteran who has spent his entire career in Toronto. Powell can add depth to an offense led by Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

Portland is sitting at sixth in the Western Conference and is looking to make some noise in the playoffs. Toronto isn’t in the playoff picture and is trading away pieces and bringing in more young assets. Powell is having a career year and the Raptors knew they could get some real value in a trade

The Blazers trade for Norman Powell to add scoring when its two stars are not in the game. The Blazers are trying to take as much pressure off Lillard and McCollum as much as they can.

Powell is averaging close to 20 points per game and is expected to come and produce right away. Toronto also gets a young piece in Gary Trent that they could potentially build around.
