According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, Portland Trailblazers star Damian Lillard will participate in this year’s 3-point contest. The contest takes place in Atlanta on March 7th before the 2021 All-Star Game.
Furthermore, Damian is the first player to confirm his participation in the contest this year. At the age of 30, he has made 105 three-pointers this season with a 38% shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
Before confirming his spot at the contest, he had this to say about the upcoming All-Star Game:
“There’s repercussions about us not [having an All-Star Game]. It could be something negative for us not going along with that. If that’s what we’re going to do, I’m with it. But if we’re not, I’m fine with that too.”

Many players have doubted the safety and necessity of this year’s Game amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the NBA is planning to go through with it, taking all safety measures into consideration.

Damian Lillard hit 4 straight 3s to defeat the Thunder last night. He is currently 4th in NBA scoring this season, averaging 29.3ppg, and his 7.4 assists per game rank 10th in the league as of February 17th. He is expected to be named to this year’s All-Star Game as well.
Moreover, Lillard’s Trailblazers sit at the 4th seed in the Western Conference holding a 17-10 record. He is the undisputed #1 player on the team, especially after CJ McCollum went down with a broken foot earlier in the season.
