Despite the Toronto Raptors winning the 2019 NBA championship over a year ago, Danny Green is yet to receive his ring.
According to Josh Lewenberg of TSN, the Raptors offered to deliver the ring to Green. However, he declined because he wants to receive the ring in Toronto and in front of fans.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic moving the NBA season into a bubble without fans, that wasn’t possible this season.
Green is expected to receive his ring for the 2019 championship next season.
Green was traded to Toronto along with longtime teammate Kawhi Leonard before the 2019 season. Both players were critical factors in Toronto winning its first championship.
After the Los Angeles Lakers won the title last night, Danny Green and LeBron James joined John Salley and Robert Horry as the only players in NBA history to win the finals with three different teams.
Despite making NBA history last night, it wasn’t all good for Green during this year’s playoffs.
Green struggled during the 2020 playoffs leading to teasing and harassment on social media.
The 33 year old will be on his second year of a two-year contract next season.
