Giannis Antetokounmpo has firmly established himself as one of the NBA’s superstars at the young age of 26 years old. However, despitewinning back-to-back MVPs, he does not hesitate to admire the greats that came before him. Giannis and LeBron were both in the Suns’ arena duringGame 5 of the NBA Finals, but with different roles.Giannis commented on James’ presenceafter the Milwaukee Bucks’ victory over the Suns.

“First time he was in the Finals was 2007, I wasnt playing basketball. Thats crazy to think about.”

When Giannis gives his response, it gives listeners a good idea of how dominant LeBron has been. Giannis points out that James was in his first NBA Finals before he even started playing competitive basketball. Although he was shocked by the idea of that, the Bucks star said that he had to stay focused. He stated he does not engage with people, no matter who is sitting courtside. Like any otherNBAstar, Giannis is trying to leave his mark on the game of basketball.

The Milwaukee forward would later say that LeBron’s attendance at Game 5 came a day after watching Space Jam 2 on HBO. Giannis does an excellent job of bringing his story full circle and showing people how genuinely prominent LeBron is in the basketball community.

Knowing now what Giannis thought when he saw James, it is impressive that Giannis performed the way he did that night versus Phoenix. He did not shy away from the moment, posting 32 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. He was also on the receiving end of amemorable alley-oop from Jrue Holiday. Giannis is showing that he is ready to be the next leader of the NBA, even in front of his basketball idols.
