Kevin Love posted on his Instagram account a story that looks directed at Jerry Colangelo. Colangelo previously commented on Kevin’s health and performance at the USA Men’s training camp before the 2020 Olympic Games.
The Team USA managing director’s comments did not go unnoticed, and Kevin Love’s timing on this post seems directed to him. Kevin Love had a poor season in Cleveland this year, and after struggling in two friendly games, he decided to withdraw.
Jerry Colangelo had a lot to say about Kevin Love and did not spare him after Love's withdrawal.
"I didn't think Kevin Love was going to play. I wasn't even sure he had much left to play," Colangelo said. "He reached out to us and said he was in shape and said he felt he owed us. And on the basis of that, we're looking at someone with international experience who at one time was a heck of a rebounder and could still shoot the ball. You know, being like a 12th man on a roster.Jerry Colangelo on Kevin Love withdrawing
Jerry ended his comments on Love "Well, it didn't work out. He wasn't in shape. And he was way behind, as it turned out. So you move on. Call it a mistake. Call it giving someone an opportunity. Someone who had equity with us."
Since this subject gained a lot of attention from the media, it wasn't long before Bill Simmons gave his perspective on it.
"Colangelo throwing Kevin Love under the bus for the sport of it. This article perfectly captures what a blowhard he is."Bill Simmons on Colangelo's comments
With Love and Colangelo going back and forth, the situation looks to escalate furthermore. It's unclear if Kevin will return to the USA Men's team since he struggles with injuries.
