The former Los Angeles Lakers player, Kostas Antetokounmpo, is leaving the NBA and has now signed for the LDLC Asvel, a French professional basketball team. Kostas Antetokounmpo will join the team on a 2-year contract, announced by the new club.
The 6´11 Power Forward was the 60th pick in the NBA Draft and NBA Champions with the Lakers in 2020. However, Kostas played few games in the NBA, getting his playing time on their G-League team.
Not to mention, Kostas is the youngest brother of the Antetokounmpo family who plays in the NBA. His older brother, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is a 2-time Most Valuable Player and 1-time Defensive Player of the Year. In addition to his other brother Thanasis, who plays alongside Giannis in the Milwaukee Bucks.

Kostas´ new team is notably known for their President, former NBA All-Star Tony Parker. Furthermore, ASVEL´s roster will provide further acquaintance in former NBA player Elie Okobo (31s pick in the NBA Draft).
Additionally, Kostas will play with one of the most rising stars in the World, Victor Wembanyama. This 17-year old joined Asvel this off-season and continues drawing attention as one of the top prospects for the 2023 NBA Draft.
Then again, those are just a few examples of the talent of Asvel. The team´s history goes far to 1948, and since then won 20 French Championships, 10 French Cups, and 2 French Supercup.
Besides, Asvel´s current director of Basketball operations is NBA player Nicolas Batum. And in 2019, the football club Lyon purchased a 25% stake.
This new journey might help Kostas after playing through just fifteen games in the NBA. Heading overseas, playing with many talented players in the Euroleague is a good step in his career, giving him more playing time to improve and work on his game.
