The King surpassed the 7000 career playoff points mark — becoming by far the best playoff scorer in history. To show how superior this is, the next active player on the list is Kevin Durant with just over 4000 career playoff points.
LeBron scored 30 points in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers 135-115. LA team leads the series 3-1 and is very close to reaching the second round.
Second on the list is Michael Jordan with 5,987 points in 197 games. James played 243 games so far and the only player to have played more games than the King is Tim Duncan with 251 games, securing the 6th place (5,172 points).
If the Lakers manage to get the 4th win and secure the second round, they will face a winner from the Rockets-Thunder matchup. That series sits at 2-2 after Houston initially took the first two wins.
“Black Mamba” Jerseys to Commemorate Kobe Bryant
The Lakers wore their “Black Mamba” jerseys in game 4 against the Portland Trail Blazers in honor of Kobe Bryant. The date was 08/24 and the Lakers nation decided to pay their respects to one of the greatest players of all time.
Stars aligned for the Lakers on Kobe Bryant Day and believe it or not, early in the first quarter Lakers took a 24:8 lead, marking both numbers mamba wore as a Laker.
“I did notice we were up 24-8,” LeBron said. “I’m always trying to figure out what’s going on throughout the course of the game. When I looked up there and saw 24-8 I was like ‘okay, he’s here in the building.’
The jerseys also featured a heart patch with the number ‘2’ on them, the jersey number of Bryant’s daughter Gianna.
“It was an honor, it’s been an honor to just put on the Laker uniform. Even before the passing of the great Kobe Bryant. Tonight was another one of those moments for myself, for this organization, for all the players. To go out there one day removed from his birthday and then his day of 8/24, to be able to have a game on this day, the stars aligned,” James said after dominating the game with 30 points on 10-for-12 shooting, 10 assists, six rebounds and a block in just 28 minutes.
