On the heels of a poor shooting performance in Golden State’s opening night win over the Lakers, their superstar point guard bounced back in a big way. Stephen Curry put on a show early on in the Warriors game against the LA Clippers. He hit all nine shots in the first quarter, including five three-pointers, finishing the first 12 minutes of play with 25 points. In awe of Curry’s performance, NBA players watching on took to social media to echo their appreciation.
“Stephen Curry You’re SICK Man!!!!!”LeBron James
“What are we witnessing y’all ? Steph cmon”R.J. Hampton
“Steph [going] for 75 tonight”Damian Lillard
Though he wouldn’t keep pace and hit the 75 point mark, Curry did get up to 45. His Warriors needed every last one of his points as they edged the Clippers, 115-113. The game marks Golden State’s second straight win to start the season and Curry’s second consecutive double-double. They’ll hope to keep the momentum going as they head off to Sacramento to take on the Kings this Sunday.
A perfect quarter of Warriors Basketaball
Stephen Curry’s perfect, 25-point quarter against the Clippers was a sight to behold. However, this only marked the second time a Warriors guard went off on a high-scoring run without missing a single shot. During the 2014-15 NBA season, Klay Thompson had a night to remember against the Sacramento Kings. He would put up a record-setting 37 points in the third quarter, surpassing the record previously set by George Gervin. Thompson also went perfect from the floor, shooting 13 for 13 and hitting all nine of his threes.
Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson grew a knack for overwhelming the opposition with a flurry of shots from beyond the arc. Performances like the one Klay had in 2015 or what Curry did last night remind the rest of the league and fans across the NBA what these players are capable of.
