Nike has released the new line of City edition jerseys for the 2021-22 NBA season. As part of the company’s apparel deal with the league, Nike has annually put out these alternate looks for every team. The goal for this brand was about bringing a new look to each squad and using it to connect them to their cities closely, hence the “City” moniker. The following tweet yields a brief glimpse into every team’s new threads.
We received a little preview of some of these a while ago but now confirmed we can examine them honestly. In each case, these jerseys either harken back to a previous era in a franchise’s history or add an innovative, unique appearance to their current iterations.

In 2017, the NBA’s apparel deal with Addidas expired, and they had set to start anew with Nike. With the swoosh brand, the league took a different approach to their jerseys. As opposed to the conventional Home and Away assignments, the new Nike tees went under different names. The white jerseys were dubbed ‘Association’ and the colored jerseys ‘icon.’ Other looks brought about by Nike included the ‘Classic,’ ‘Statement,’ and of course ‘City’ jerseys.
Transitioning from Addidas to Nike saw some hitches along the way, but overall the results have proved satisfactory.
