Two centers have been dominating the NBA since the beginning of the season, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid have been named Kia NBA players of the month for games played in December and January.
Nikola Jokic improved his stats once again. Jokic is just 1.4 assists per game away from averaging a triple-double as a center. To be exact, the Joker’s stats are 26.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game.
That was enough to lead the Denver Nuggets to the 4th spot in a stacked Western Conference. The team currently holds a record of 12 wins and 8 losses, with the Nuggets winning 7 out of the last 10 games.
On the other side of the league, the Philadelphia 76ers hold the first position in the Eastern Conference. They are led by another dominant big of the league: The Process himself, Joel Embiid.
Joel averaged 28.3 points and 11.1 rebounds in the 16 games he played. His team only lost twice with him on the court. Even though they lost most of the games with Embiid on the sideline, the Sixers are still on top of the East. Their record is 15 and 6, and the second-placed Bucks are 2.5 games behind.
The league nominated some other players for the NBA player of the month award, including LeBron James, Paul George, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and others.
