Carmelo Anthony Excluded From Nuggets’ All-Time Favorite Player Graphic

Aug 20, 2020; Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA; Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony (00) warms up before a NBA basketball first round playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 NBA playoffs at AdventHealth Arena.

The Nuggets’ Twitter account sparked conflict when it asked their followers for their all-time favorite Nuggets player while excluding former player Carmelo Anthony from the graphic.

Fans took offense to Carmelo Anthony’s exclusion, the 3rd overall pick for the Nuggets in the 2003 NBA Draft. In the seven years that Anthony was with the Nuggets, the team had a winning record and made the playoffs. He was an All-Star three out of the seven years. He averaged 20 points or more in all seven years with the franchise. Anthony’s current team, the Trailblazers, hit back at the Nuggets social media team with a similar post but including Anthony.

Carmelo Anthony signed a one year, 2.16 million dollar deal with the Portland Trailblazers in November 2019. That deal became a guaranteed deal more than a month later and continued into the bubble. He was an essential part of the Blazers run for a playoff spot and will likely be retained next season.
