LiAngelo Ball is expected to reunite with his younger brother, LaMelo Ball, on the Charlotte Hornets. Once the deal is finalized, LiAngelo will be added to their Summer League roster. This could provide the 22-year-old the opportunity he needs to kickstart his NBA career.

Ball went undrafted in 2018 and signed with the Thunder's G-League affiliate, Oklahoma City Blue, in March 2020. Just three days later, the league shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic and could never play for the Blue. In December, Ball signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons waived him 12 days later. He did not appear in any games for Detroit either.

Signing with the Hornets would officially pair LiAngelo with LaMelo for the first time since they played in Lithuania 2017-18. LiAngelo has been around the team recently, working out with several Hornets players. He appeared on Devonte Graham's Instagram story last week wearing Hornets gear.

Ball will likely have to impress in the Las Vegas Summer League to make the roster for the upcoming season. LaVar Ball, the father of the Ball brothers, said LiAngelo is the best pure scorer of the three.

The oldest Ball brother, Lonzo, is a restricted free agent this summer. They have all voiced their opinion that they would love to play on the same team one day. Unfortunately, it will not happen with the Hornets. They have too many guards, and Lonzo is looking for a big payday.

After missing the playoffs last year, the Hornets are continuing to build their young core with good veteran pieces. If Ball can impress in the Summer League and get a permanent contract, this would be a huge accomplishment. He has been putting in the work behind the scenes waiting for an opportunity.
