The NBA championship window is opening for Brooklyn Nets, who are really trying to seize the moment. They have been discussing ways to acquire Wizards star, Bradley Beal, per New York Daily News’ Stefan Bondy.
Kevin Durant suffered an Achilles injury during the 2019 NBA Finals. Durant’s been out ever since; he’s expected to return next season. Kyrie Irving underwent arthroscopic surgery back on March 3rd, and that would put him on track to return around early September. With a third star to back up Irving and Durant — Nets would be unstoppable.
Bradley Beal is one of the highest-paid League players, and last year he signed a two-year, $72 million extension. Beal has been constant while John Wall was out and led the Eastern Conference in scoring. This phenomenal shooting guard was second overall, just behind James Harden, but wasn’t named an All-Star this year. However, he is certainly going to be one of the most desired players this offseason following his stellar statistics this year, averaging 30.5 points and 6.1 assists.
WHAT WOULD NETS HAVE TO GIVE UP?
The Nets would have to match salaries for any trade. Presuming that they don’t trade their two superstars, the best assets would be: Spencer Dinwiddie ($11.5 million), Caris LeVert ($16.2 million) and Jarrett Allen ($3.9 million).
“I hate change. If it happens, it happens,” Beal told ESPN and left a window for a possible trade open.
Adding the Big Panda to a duo — Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving — would instantly make Brooklyn Nets a No. 1 contender. They are already one of the best teams in the NBA when their stars are healthy, but adding Bradley Beal would certainly give them the edge over any other team.
