The Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors continued their impressive start to the season with a 127-113 comeback win over the Atlanta Hawks. The Warriors completed the 15 point comeback, thanks in no small part to a 50 point and 10 assist performance from Curry. Steph joins Wilt Chamberlain (105) and Rick Barry (14) as the third player in Warriors franchise history to have at least ten 50 point games.

Head Coach Steve Kerr was once again amazed by Curry’s outstanding performance.

“I want to say ‘I’ve never seen anything like it’ but I’ve been watching it for seven years. Still it’s incredibly to watch.”

Curry’s domination of the Atlanta Hawks improved the Warriors’ record to 9-1 for the season. They are the only team in the league to not lose at least three games so far in 2021/22. It has been a fantastic start for the whole team, with Golden State sitting first in points per game (115.2) and first in defensive rating (98.6).

However, Steph Curry has been the star. So it comes as no surprise that WNBA player Candace Parker predicted Curry’s outrageous performance from the opening tip.

Stephen Curry is one of the most dynamic scorers the NBA has ever seen, but his 50 point bombardment of the Hawks still left analysts on two of ESPN’s morning shows (KJM & Get Up) in awe.

“I know we are ten games into the season. But Steph to me right now has the edge to be MVP. His ability to get his shot off so quickly, his footwork and his handle. His hands are so quick and his ability to shoot from anywhere. Constantly keeps you leaning on the edge of your toes defensively.”

Jay Williams

“The creation of seperation is crazy. Usually it’s running off picks like Reggie Miller. But Steph with his handles and dribble, he can create this kind of seperation and knockdown three’s. Unfortunetly for everyone they’re playing against.”

At 33 years old, Stephen Curry is the oldest player in NBA history to have a 50 point 10 assist game. Overtaking the previous record-holder Wilt Chamberlain. Curry shot an impressive 14/28 from the field, 9/19 from three-point range. And was an impeccable 13/13 from the free-throw line.

The Golden State Warriors are the best team in basketball, and they still have Klay Thompson to return to their lineup. Stephen Curry is looking like the best player in basketball. And he will no doubt have Rick Barry’s 14 50 point games in his sight as he looks to lead the Warriors to another NBA Championship and claim his third MVP crown.
