The Los Angeles Lakers continue to live up to expectations on Thursday night with a 110-100 win, giving them a commanding 3-1 lead over the Rockets.
While the Lakers did dominate the game, it wasn’t all positive looking closer at the stats. The Lakers remained consistent as they never trailed throughout the entire game. Their largest lead was 23, and they out-rebounded the Rockets by an outstanding 52-26 margin. Anthony Davis had 29 points on 10-18 from the field and shot a perfect 9-9 from the free-throw line. In that sense, the Lakers played a stellar game.
However, it wasn’t all perfect for the 1st seed in the West. The Lakers severely struggled from 3, going 9/30 for 30% on the game. Los Angeles’ two stars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, shot a combined 0-7 from 3. While it didn’t cost them in this game, the poor shooting is concerning.
While the Rockets shot better from 3, a lot of players left a lot to be desired. The most obvious nomination for an underwhelming performance was James Harden. The eight-time All-Star finished with 21 points, shooting 2-11 from the field and 1-6 from 3.
The Rockets face elimination on Monday, September 14th, when they take on the Lakers at 6 PM.
