Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva challenged Lakers star LeBron James to match the reward money for information on the shootings of two deputies in Compton, CA. Vanessa Bryant (wife of the late Kobe Bryant) stepped in the situation with multiple posts on her Instagram story. The posts defended James and called out Villanueva’s hypocrisy.

Bryant began by posting a screenshotted tweet from Twitter account @ElanMaree earlier today that criticized the credibility and validity of Villanueva’s comments.

The tweet responded to a clip of Villanueva saying that influential individuals need to emphasize trust in the justice system.

As the tweet mentioned, Bryant and Villanueva have a history together. Bryant filed a lawsuit against Villanueva and his sheriff’s office in May after 8 of his deputies shared photos of the infamous helicopter crash that tragically killed Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others.

The claim sought damages for emotional distress and mental anguish caused by the pictures that were publicly shared.

Bryant highlighted this controversy on her Instagram account, with screenshots of related articles from The Hollywood Reporter, and Lakersnation.com, as well as another tweet from the Twitter user mentioned, @ElanMaree. All three posts brought up the LASD’s avoidable mistakes and the lack of accountability imposed by Villanueva that occurred in the wake of the helicopter crash.

Vanessa Bryant coming to the defense of LeBron James is no surprise. James and Kobe Bryant were great friends on and off the court.
