While talking with reporter Malika Andrews on ESPN earlier today, NBA commissioner Adam Silver took time to address the Josh Giddey allegations. The allegations have continued to loom around the league in the previous few weeks.

Giddey is currently facing allegations of having an improper relationship with an underage girl. The allegations first came out on November 23rd and Giddey has remained in the lineup for the Oklahoma City Thunder throughout the ongoing investigation.

“I can’t think of many circumstances where we’ve suspended a player based on an allegation alone.”

People around the league were upset with Silver for not suspending Giddey when the allegations came out. However, Silver made his approach clear when it came to legal situations. While a criminal investigation is underway, the league will take their hands off of controlling the situation.

Giddey remains one of the key young pieces on the Thunder’s roster. With the team sitting second in the Western Conference, only time will tell how the looming discussions and allegations will impact the team.

Giddey is currently averaging 11.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game this season. Similar to the NBA, the Thunder organization has continued to seemingly allow the authorities to do their research.

More information will undoubtedly come out in the coming months. How the league and Thunder go from that point on will stem from the evidence provided by authorities. Whether this remains a cloud atop the Thunder team going forward remains to be seen.

However, there is no doubt that the questions surrounding Giddey will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
