Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Nets had signed Amar’e Stoudemire as an assistant coaching.

It’s well-known Steve Nash, and Stoudemire thrived together in Phoenix with Mike D’Antoni and the seven seconds or less offense. Their offensive style is arguably the most influential in modern NBA history.

Stoudemire also played with Nets GM Sean Marks in Phoenix, along with Steve Nash. Those three have a relationship from their playing days.

The past year, Stoudemire played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, where he won the Euroleague championship. He was also named the Final Four MVP. However, Stoudemire’s decorated career may be coming to an end.

Stoudemire brings another well-respected player onto the coaching staff. He’s not far removed at all from his playing days either, which is another positive. He can work with Brooklyn’s young bigs, Jarrett Allen and Nicholas Claxton, while also having the respect to work with Deandre Jordan.

The Nets championship window starts right now. With multiple former players on the coaching staff and in the front office, they can hopefully use that mutual trust to bring them together. Brooklyn has talent. It’s a matter of staying healthy and building chemistry.
