The Detroit Pistons have been extremely disappointing to start this NBA season. The team has lost 11 straight games and has a 2-12 record. They currently sit at the very bottom of the Eastern Conference.

After being a team that many projected to take a leap, the Pistons simply haven’t been able to put many things together. Cade Cunningham, the young star guard of the organization, expressed his disappointment for his team.

“It’s hard to just be like, ‘We’re good, we’re good,’ you know what I’m saying? Because we’re bad. We have to address that. We have to address what we’re not good at. Address it with not only our words but on the court, in the huddles.”

Cunningham is averaging 21.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 7.1 assists to start the season. The Pistons have the ability to turn their season around, but the deeper of a hole they bury themselves in, the more difficult it will be to get out of.

The Pistons signed Monty Williams to be their new head coach. However, the winning ways that Williams had established recently with the Phoenix Suns have not rubbed off on the Pistons. However, the season is a marathon and not a sprint.

“My job is to teach and help guys break habits that they’ve had for a while. I can’t speak to what’s happened in the past, but when you see it you call it out and help guys grow.”

Monty Williams said regarding the team’s poor start to the season

The Pistons are one of the youngest teams in the entire league. However, the team will need to correct their play if they want to have any sort of postseason push. Lucky for them, they have the time and talent to turn things around for the better.
