The trade deadline is fast approaching as teams look to work in the best interest of their organization. Furthermore, Dejounte Murray is the latest name to be thrown around the rumor mill.

The NBA trade deadline falls on February 8th this year. In the weeks leading up to the deadline, names will continue to be tossed around as teams look to make moves.

“Atlanta’s ready to trade Dejounte Murray.”

Adrian Wojnarowski said on Friday

The Atlanta Hawks moving on from Murray makes sense. The team is currently 15-21 and 11th in the Eastern Conference. Although Trae Young is playing at an All-Star level this season it is becoming obvious that a move will have to be made.

Murray hasn’t had a bad season by any stretch of the imagination, though. The 27-year-old guard is right in the thick of his career. In his 36 games played, he has averaged 21.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game this year.

“To varying degrees, the Lakers, Knicks, Sixers, Heat and Pistons are five suitors expected to engage Atlanta about acquiring Murray over the coming days and weeks before Feb 8.”

Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported

For contenders around the league, there is a good chance that Murray could be the best guard on the trade block. Teams looking to make a big swing should be on the phone with the Hawks. Specifically, Murray is a solid playmaker and has the offensive juice that a team like the Lakers could need. However, it won’t be cheap to trade for him.

The Hawks will likely seek draft compensation to go along with a young player in a trade for him. Regardless, it seems increasingly more likely by the day that Murray gets moved.
