ug 24, 2020; Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA; Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo drives up court against the Orlando Magic during the second half in game four of the first round of the 2020 NBA Playoffs at The Field House.

Known primarily for his freakish talent on the basketball court, two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is now expanding his brand into the movie business. Disney is reportedly developing a film titled Greek Freak centered around Antetokounmpo and his familys life story.

Antetokounmpo is one of several NBA stars, past and present, to take on a new endeavor like this. LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and many other NBA legends over the years have been involved in notable movies. Antetokounmpo could be the next legend in line. He wont be appearing in this film, but he should be very involved with its production.

The film will also include characters portraying Giannis three brothers. His older brother Thanasis is his current teammate with the Milwaukee Bucks. His younger brother Kostas is fresh off an NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers, and his youngest sibling Alex plays professionally in Spain.

What can Viewers Expect to See?

The storys plot is still vague but will encompass the Antetokounmpos encouraging journey from poverty in Athens, Greece. The family has a very heartwarming story that should serve as a great plot for the movie.

Viewers will get an insight into how remarkable Gianniss journey was. Furthermore, this should only confirm what most NBA fans already knew about the perseverance and resilience of the movies namesake. Fans already got to witness his evolution from a skinny rookie to back-to-back MVP’s over the last seven years, but this movie will take that evolution a step further.

The movie rose to the forefront of discussion after Giannis Antetokounmpo mentioned it on his Twitter today. He put out a tweet asking for potential actors that resemble him and his brothers as young kids.

Theres no specific release date as of now, but Antetokounmpos tweet serves as some indication that hopeful fans will have to wait quite some time to enjoy the movie.
