The Milwaukee Bucks shocked the basketball world when they fired first-year head coach Adrian Griffin. The Bucks were 30-13 by the time they moved on from Griffin. While there were some clear struggles, this still was a big move for a contender to make.

That shock extended to current head coach Doc Rivers. While coaching the Eastern Conference during the All-Star break, Rivers took some time to reflect on being hired by the Bucks.

“I told our owners when they called, ‘I don’t understand why you are doing this.’ One of the things that they [Bucks ownership] said was that it doesn’t matter now, we want you.”

Since Rivers has taken over, the Bucks have been struggling. In his first 10 games as coach of the team, they are 3-7. However, a break in the season could be just what the team needs.

To say that the Bucks have lofty expectations would be an understatement. After taking a big swing on Damian Lillard, the Bucks are in a championship-or-bust situation. The Bucks have the talent, now it is about converting all of that talent into winning consistently.

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been playing at an MVP level for the team this year. If the team is going to accomplish everything it is setting out to do, it will have to be on the backs of Lillard and Antetokounmpo.

Milwaukee has plenty of time to get back on track this year. However, in a highly competitive Eastern Conference, the team will need to find ways to gel rather quickly.
