The Houston Rockets are converting Nate Williams to a two-way deal, his agent Billy Davis of Family of Athletes Sports Group tells Sideline Sources’ Wenzell Ortiz.

In a corresponding move, Houston will waive Darius Days to make room for Williams.

The former Buffalo Bull averaged 8.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.2 minutes during the Rockets’ preseason. Prior to this, though, Williams suited up for the Portland Trailblazers. In the team’s final five games of the 2022-2023 campaign, he averaged 10.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. He also showcased an infectious defensive tenacity.

Last season, Williams also spent time with Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA G League. He put up 14.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest.

Many expect the Rockets to be more competitive this season. This is largely due to the additions of Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks—two veterans brought on to balance the young talent already on the team. Williams slides in as a happy medium, as well as a player comfortable in his role.
