Lamar Odom, a former Los Angeles Lakers big man, had a car accident early Sunday morning.
According to a TMZ report, Odom rammed into two parked cars, busting up his white Mercedes at 3 AM while he was headed home from Northridge. The former NBA veteran did not issue any statements at the time of the incident. The authorities did not make other details, such as the crash’s location, public.
Apparently, Odom was okay after the incident. He took to Twitter/X to thank the people who checked in on him.
“Thank you for everyone that has reached out and checked in on me!! Appreciate the love.”

Interestingly, the LAPD officers who responded to the scene did not offer Odom any sobriety tests. Odom told the officers he hadn’t been drinking, which apparently worked. He also gave his insurance information to the owners of the cars he damaged.
Odom has been the center of controversy after his retirement. The 6-foot-10 former Sixth Man of the Year Awardee almost died in a brothel in Las Vegas because of a drug overdose. He said, “he suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks while in a coma.” The doctors were ready to pronounce him dead to friends and family, but he miraculously survived.
Years after that horrifying experience, Odom appears to have turned his life around. He now owns three rehab facilities in California, helping other people fight their battles against drugs.
Odom played six seasons for the Purple and Gold, winning two championships in 2009 and 2010. He earned the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2011, but the Dallas Mavericks acquired him before the 2011-12 season.
