George Karl has always been a coach who is never afraid to speak his mind. He’s made comments about former coaches and players. However, Karl is receiving death threats after his comments about Carmelo Anthony.

Karl and Anthony spent a lot of years together in Denver. However, Karl isn’t coaching anymore, and Anthony is now in Los Angeles pursuing a championship. However, Karl didn’t hold back when talking about his former star player and his effort on defense.

“He really lit my fuse with his low demand of himself on defense. But since Carmelo only played hard on one side of the ball, he made it plain he couldn’t lead the Nuggets, even though he said he wanted to. Coaching him meant working around his defense and compensating for his attitude.”

All Anthony wants to do is win a championship. He has numerous accolades, including Olympic gold medals, scoring titles, and all-star appearances. However, he can’t say he’s an NBA champion.

Karl wishes Anthony had this mentality in Denver. As a result, Karl made it clear with a response on Twitter.

“And it kept our coaching staff up at night a decade ago when we were stressing the importance of team play and defense!”

Karl also went on to call Anthony a ‘ball hog and sh***y defender.’ Since these comments, Karl has received numerous death threats on Twitter.

Karl and Anthony saw a lot of regular-season success in Denver. However, it never translated into the postseason. As a result, Denver only got out of the first round just once.

Karl is receiving death threats for his comments on Carmelo Anthony. Anthony is yet to respond to his former coach. However, regardless of Karl’s comments, Anthony is on a new team and is in the best position of his career to win a championship.

The best thing Anthony can do is prove Karl wrong with his play on the court this season.
