The Golden State Warriors have signaled a willingness to trade both No.7 and No.14 draft picks. With hopes of landing a star player. The Dubs want to build a team around current stars Steph Curry & Klay Thompson, capable of challenging for a Championship. In both the East & West, teams have made improvements since Golden State’s last finals appearance in 2019. And with the question marks surrounding Klay Thompson, who has missed the last two seasons through injury. The Warriors feel that adding another star is critical rather than building through the draft.

The star players the Warriors have their eye on are Portland’s Damian Lillard, who is reportedly unhappy in Oregan, and the Wizards Bradley Beal. However, neither player will be available in a trade package where the standout player is Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors don’t have the players required to pair a star man with the splash bros. Regardless of how many draft assets are involved.

The Warriors without a trade

The team is prepared for the likely eventuality that no mega trade materializes. James Wiseman, the Warriors, No. 2 pick in the 2020 draft, struggled in his first NBA season. However, with the hiring of development specialist Kenny Atkinson to join the Warrior’s coaching staff. The franchise signaled their willingness to move forward with the player.

Last season Steph Cury re-established himself as one of the best players in the NBA. Having averaged 32 points, 5.5 rebounds & 5.8 assists, and just missed out on yet another 50/40/90 season. Curry was basically a one-person team, and Golden State still reached the play-in tournament. The return of Klay Thompson alone will feel like a star signing, and the return of the splash bros will mean no team will be looking forward to a matchup with the Warriors. A force to be reckoned with in the West.
