Hakeem Olajuwon is one of the greatest players in the history of basketball. Not only was he a winner, but he found ways to dominate the game in a variety of different ways. The two-time champion showed love to the current Houston Rockets big man, Alperen Şengün, and his recent success.

Şengün has also found a variety of different ways to impact the game for the Rockets. He is far beyond just a one-dimensional big man. That development is something that Olajuwon has loved to watch develop over the years.

“He moves. He drives on the floor. He shoots 3s. So he has adapted; he has adjusted his game to fit any style. He loves the post. If he gets a chance to post up, he finishes on both sides. And he shoots 3s, so he plays a complete game.”

Hakeem Olajuwon told the Houston Chronicle

Şengün is playing at an All-Star level for the Rockets this season. He has evolved into the team’s best player and has evolved with every single game that he has played in his career so far.

At just 21 years of age, Şengün looks poised to make an impact on basketball for years to come. He currently is averaging 21.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 46 games played. While he had a solid first two seasons in the league, this is the one that has helped catapult himself into stardom.

“He’s playing a very complete game that fits any style — it fits our era or this era. I think he finds a perfect balance between the old school and the new school.”

Whether Şengün can fill the massive shoes of Olajuwon or not remains to be seen. However, he is off to a great start in his career.
