The new In-Season Tournament is going well for many teams. It’s reigniting the passion of many players as it takes away the predictability of the regular season. However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for the NBA and its players. There have been fights all over, and now, players are getting injuries from playing on the court.

Strictly speaking, the In-Season Tournament courts haven’t been kind to the Boston Celtic. He’s slipped multiple times throughout their game against the Toronto Raptors.

They may have won as they beat the Raptors 108-105. However, the team subbed out the two-time All-star due to a possible groin injury.

This was a result of a few slips on the court.

It’s Not All Bad

In a post-game interview from theScore, Brown talks about how he feels about the new courts the teams have been using.

He states that he might have injured his groin due to the slippery floor. These are difficult conditions to work with, especially for athletes who have to run around for minutes on end.

Worrying about slipping is just something that shouldn’t be a part of the factors to take in.

“I slipped. I slipped and I might have strained my groin a little bit. The floor was just slippery the whole game.”

However, the forward doesn’t think it’s all bad. He sees the In-Season Tournament’s value since it helps teams stay motivated.

Not only that, but lesser-known players still get a decent chunk of money if they do win it. Additionally, it also creates more excitement and hype for the league from fans.

“I think we all, as players, we’re all here for the In-Season Tournament. It’s gonna generate revenue, excitement and competition. But we gotta make sure the floor is safe to play on. We can’t put our players out there.”

Furthermore, this is a health and safety risk to many players, possibly ending or stopping their careers for a few days or weeks.

“[We can’t] risk they health. So tonight I thought the floor was kind of unacceptable. Guys were slipping all over the place.”

The league is waiting for more details if the 27-year-old can come back in time for their game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
