Kevin Durant and an NBA fan o social media had quite the conversation today. In Kevin Durant fashion, the superstar forward called a fan a “casual” in a Twitter exchange.

The thread started with 2015 NBA Finals MVP, Andre Iguodala. Iguodala tweeted his thoughts on Nets guard Kyrie Irving’s place on the NBA’s commemorative top 75 list.

“So y’all saying Kyrie Irving ain’t top 75? I agree… he top 20 at least…”

Andre Iguodala

From there, a Twitter user responded with a quote tweet, acknowledging how players like Iguodala often praise Irving more than he and the average fan.

Kyrie really seems to be a hooper’s hooper. I love Kyrie’s game but hoopers LOVE Kyrie’s game.

Then, Irving’s teammate, Durant, joined the fray, calling the fan a “casual.”

“Cuz u a casual”

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant’s not one to shy away from Twitter interactions with NBA fans. Whether it be on his personal account or his infamous burner account, Durant’s Twitter presence is huge. This interaction is nothing new.

Durant wasn’t the only one embracing the exchange, though. The same fan returned the favor to Durant with a reply of his own. In the process, he poked fun at Irving.

“a fully vaccinated casual”

Of course, the mention of his vaccination status is a direct reference to Durant’s teammate, Irving, who’s notoriously refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine. As a result, his Brooklyn Nets restricted him from playing this season until he complies with New York City’s vaccine mandate. If the restriction continues, it’ll be a tough blow for the championship hopeful Nets, led by Durant and James Harden.

Irving’s untimely absence from the Nets has been the subject of many NBA social media jokes like this one. And until he somehow rejoins the team, interactions like these should continue.
