The new big man for the Boston Celtics, Kristaps Porzingis, is off to an amazing start with his new team. The Celtics are 8-2 in their first 10 games and look to be one of the best teams in the entire association.
Porzingis is averaging 19.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and is shooting 40.8 percent from long range this year. The big man has added a completely new dynamic to the team. While discussing his new role, Porzingis described his appreciation for it.
“Honestly, I still play pretty much the same. There might be some games when I don’t get as many shots or things like that, but honestly I’m much more effective now than when I was shooting 18 shots per game.”
Kristaps Porzingis told the New York Daily News
Porzingis has commonly been a top-two option while playing for teams earlier in his career. His time with the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, and the Washington Wizards all saw him as more of a dominant presence.
Now, he has the opportunity to play with other All-Star talent to help him carry the load. Although Porzingis hasn’t had as large of a role, he has been an incredible addition to Boston.
“There’s going to be different games and different situations, and I’m going to be ready to step up or be there support these guys, and that’s why I’m here.”

The trading of Marcus Smart was a major question mark throughout the offseason. Although only limited games have shown what Porzingis can do, it has been a great showing in the small sample size.
