Michael Jordan Will Induct Kobe Bryant Into Hall of Fame

Charlotte Hornets owner and NBA legend Michael Jordan will induct the late Kobe Bryant into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The news came earlier this afternoon.

According to, members of the 2020 class chose from past inductees to present them to their peers. In Bryant’s case, his family chose on his behalf and picked MJ.

Why Michael Jordan To Induct Kobe?

Bryant looked up to Michael Jordan while growing up and aspired to perform at a similar level in his professional career. A large part of his game was modeled after Jordan himself. The pair grew close once Kobe entered the league. The NBA great even spoke at Bryant’s memorial ceremony at Staples Center days after his passing.

Along with Kobe Bryant, the following individuals will also be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Patrick Baumann, Tamika Catchings, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Kim Mulkey, Barbara Stevens, Eddie Sutton, and Rudy Tomjanovic. Jordan will present Bryant at the induction ceremony on May 15th.

By the end of his NBA career, entry into the Hall of Fame was assured for Bryant. He is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Many fans were happy to hear that Jordan would present Bryant. Given the depth of their relationship, as confirmed by Jordan himself, fans thought it best that he ushered his friend into the hall.

He finished with career averages of 25 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game on 44.7 percent field goal shooting. Bryant played his entire NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, leading them to five championship victories. He won the league MVP award in 2008 and won the NBA finals MVP award in both 2009 and 2010.

Kobe Bryant passed away after a helicopter crash in February 2020. Among the deceased were his daughter Gianna, John, Keri, and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, and Ara Zobayan.
