Despite the postponement of the NBA due to COVID 19, 2K Sports have announced that NBA 2K21 will be released at the normal time. The Current Generation game comes out on September 4th, while we will have to wait until sometime around Christmas of this year for the Next Generation version to come out. With this, there have been three NBA 2K21 cover athletes announced rather than the usual two.
Current Generation
For the Current Generation consoles, (PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch) the NBA 2K21 cover athlete will be star Portland guard Damian Lillard. The five-time All-Star is a deserving replacement for Anthony Davis, who featured on the cover for 2K20. Lillard reflects the Current Generation as he is currently one of the league’s top players.
Next Generation
For the Next Generation Consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X) the NBA 2K21 cover athlete will be Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson. Zion hasn’t played 20 games in the NBA. Still, Williamson is one of the most famous players in the league. His nature as a future star matches the fact that he is the cover for the Next Generation Consoles.
