Even Joel Embiid isn’t impervious to trade speculation — despite winning MVP this season. According to one NBA insider, the Heat are a team to watch this offseason regarding Embiid’s availability.

While speaking on his podcast, The Hoopshype Podcast, Michael Scotto outlined a trade package where Miami lands the big man. Firstly, he surmised that Embiid has an affinity for Jimmy Butler. Consequently, their relationship would make the deal copacetic for Embiid.

Next, Scotto asserts that president of basketball operations Darrl Morey would only move the two-time scoring champ for another star. That leaves a deal centered around Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, with the former being a two-time All-Star and the latter a former Sixth Man of the Year.

“Theoretically, if that happened, if I’m Joel, I think he’s always had an affinity for Jimmy Butler,” Scotto said. “If I’m Philly and Harden leaves, do you call Miami and ask for Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and other pieces there (for Embiid)? Daryl Morey always struck me as a guy that acquires stars. He doesn’t trade them unless he’s getting another star back.”

The Sixers finished with a 54-28 record. However, they lost in the second round of the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

Miami is currently in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight year. They will play Game 6 against the Celtics on Saturday.
