Norman Powell’s time as a Toronto Raptor

As Norman Powell says farewell to the city of Toronto, let’s take a look at his past history.

Norman Powell was selected 46th overall in the 2015 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks were originally planning not to take Powell; however, for the soon-to-come trade they did. On the day of the draft, the Bucks dealt Norman Powell and a conditional first-round pick for guard Greivis Vsquez. The conditional first-round pick became OG Anunoby.

Norman Powell called Toronto his home for five and a half years before getting dealt at the trade deadline. During his tenure as a Toronto Raptor, in 2018-19, he won an NBA championship for the first time in his career. A year later, in game 6 of the playoffs, he carried the Raptors past the Celtics in double overtime to force a game 7.

During the 2020-21 season, Norman Powell started a majority of the Raptors games, averaging a career-high 19.6 points on 49.8% FG. He is also top 10 in the league in 3pt%. His most memorable game was when he scored a career-high of 43 points against the Detroit Pistons.

Norman Powell will become an unrestricted free agent during the off season, and he will get paid.
