People may have negative opinions about Floyd Mayweather Jr., but not Paul George.
In a segment on the Podcast P show, the Los Angeles Clippers star revealed a surprising side to the flamboyant boxer only a few have had the privilege to see.
“Shout out Floyd, bro. Floyd is my guy. Floyd, no BS, was there every day. He pulled up on me every… And I was in the hospital for a week I wanna say. Bro, I saw Floyd every day… He’s bringing me soul food, come in there chopping up with me, chopping up with my folks on some real humble s**t.
I love Floyd for that.”
Paul George on Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Boxing fans and pundits have heavily criticized Mayweather Jr. for many things. They feel the undefeated retired boxer dodges the hard fights and cashes in on the easy ones.
Mayweather Jr.’s claim as the best boxer ever, even better than Muhammad Ali, Rocky Marciano, and Joe Louis, obviously rubs people the wrong way. He believes he is better than these greats because he’s undefeated and beat more world champions. But despite these unpopular statements, Mayweather Jr. is an exceptional friend, as George related.
Paul George’s Leg Injury

As for George, the eight-time NBA All-Star suffered a horrific right leg injury in a Team USA scrimmage in 2014. He fractured his knee’s tibia and fibula after challenging a James Harden layup. George’s leg was caught in the stanchion, resulting in a gruesome injury.
It was around this time that George, then with the Indiana Pacers, had a relatively lengthy stay in the hospital. He posted a picture with him and Mayweather Jr. on Instagram with the caption: “Appreciate the champ @floydmayweather visiting me in the hospital.. Gave me some great advice and kept my spirits high!! Appreciate you once again big bro!”
Since then, George made a successful recovery. He was named an NBA All-Star eight more times and has never averaged less than 21.5 points per game in a season ever since.
